Admission to the Faculty

Admissions for the Bachelor of Science program in the FES is based on the regulations set by the Unified Regulations for Postgraduate Studies in the Saudi Universities which state the following:

1. The student should have a high school diploma (Science major) from the Kingdom or its equivalent with a grade defined yearly by the Faculty Board and announced by the Deanship of Post-Graduate Studies.
2. The student has to pass the physical fitness test required by the KAU.

The Bachelor's Degree (regular full-time students) Admission Requirements:

• Applicant must hold a recent Saudi Secondary School Certificate or any recognized equivalent.
• Applicant must have completed Secondary School within the past three years .
• Applicant must submit a Secondary School recommendation letter indicating good conduct .
• Applicant must submit result of General Assessment Examination printed from the internet site (www.qiyas.org).
• Applicant must pass any entrance exam or personal interview stipulated by the university council .
• Applicant must be medically fit .
• Applicant must be a full-time student .
• For applicants who have withdrawn from any other university, date of withdrawal must be within the past three years .
• Applicant must not be enrolled in any other degree program at KAU or at any other university .
• Applicant who is dismissed from any university or academic institution is not eligible for admission.

The University Council of the King Abdulaziz University decides the approximate number of admissions in the Faculty of Earth Sciences as group of programs, consisting of six specialized programs or departments: Mineral Resources and Rocks, Hydrogeology, Engineering and Environmental, Structural Geology and Remote Sensing, Petroleum Geology and Sedimentalogy and Geophysics.
