KAU hosts a scientific forum on "Corona Viruses in Camels"
 

On behalf of HE Prof. Abdulrahman Al Youbi, KAU president, HE KAU Vice-president for Development Prof. Abdulfatah Mashat opened the scientific forum entitled "Corona Viruses in Camels" on Thursday  21 of April 2016. A number of KAU vice-presidents, KAU faculty members and concerned sectors attended the opening ceremony.


The forum included a lecture by Prof. Jamal Saber in which he provided a review of the most important outcomes of the Corona virus project and research works that were published  by KAU team with the cooperation of the distinguished Prof. Yi guan, a well-known KAU professor, in Science magazine in January 2016. These research works identified and isolated three new kinds of Corona viruses.


Prof. Yi Guan also delivered a lecture on statistics related to the spread of Corona viruses in certain parts of Saudi Arabia.


Then, a number of related scientific issues were discussed followed by a detailed presentation on the manufacturing and development of the anti-corona virus vaccine that was prepared with a cooperation between KAU and the University of Hong Kong.
