Scholarship induction programme inaugurated

An event was organised Monday by the Centre for Teaching and Learning Development (CTLD) to mark the kick-off of a three-day scholarship induction programme for 220 graduate teaching assistants who are due to further their higher education abroad on government-sponsored scholarships.

Addressing the audience, Dr Saad Al-Masoudi, Director of the Scholarship Programme, urged the participants attending the event to make the most of the programme, and to be real ambassadors for their country in their host countries.

Dr Abdel Muhsin Al-Bedaiawi, CTLD Director, gave a lecture to boost the participants' intercultural communication skills and prepare them for a new life-changing experience.

Dr Fouad A. Abulaban gave a lecture in which he spoke about his own experience as a scholarship student, how to secure a place in an international university and choose a specialisation. He also dealt with the potential difficulties the participants might face during their studies abroad and the necessary steps to overcome them.

Dr Omer Badahdah will give a lecture aimed at making the departing students fully aware of the commitments of the scholarship programme, in addition to giving them an idea about the lifestyle, rules of etiquette and ways of approaching others in their destinations in order to help them find their feet there.

Dr Abid S. Al-Sahli will also give a lecture on the regulations of the different stages of scholarship programme.

Dr Mohammed Al-Barkati is also due to give a lecture the admission examinations in international universities.

Dr Ahmed Abu Khatwah will give a lecture on academic plagiarism, and another on how to master the English language over a short period of time.
